A question for Councillor Hogg - Is Stockport Council to introduce free swimming at the boroughs pools, for the under 16's and over 60's this year? as
outlined by Gordon Brown.

i hope so!
I would take my 3 (under 6's) a lot of it were free. Its something i just can't afford esp at the mo! |

Out of curiosity - what is the ratio of adults to children in HG swimming pool. I remember when my horrors were little we had to have 2 adults to our 3 boys
(all were under 5 at one point - a set of twins ). Would hate you to be disappointed if you got a free swim!

 Stockport has free swimming for the over 60`s
but not for the under 16`s

Come on Grover we don`t allow boats in the pool,
mind you swimming across might take you so long there would have been a change of policy.

Thank you for the information re free swimming, I was not aware of this. Is it already in place and if so are all the local pools participating. I enquired at Hazel Grove Pool and they do not know anything about this. Apart from being 60 is there any other criteria required for this concession i.e. being on any kind of benefit. |

It doesnt start till April. Gov gave the Council money for it. Don`t know if it will last after that.

If I get tired of swimming, I will catch a ride on a free bus - after 9:30 am I presume!

I think its one adult per 2 none swimmers under 8. That said, it would be logistical nightmare getting all 4 of us changed myself so the husband would be with
me anyway!
